Modeling Director
Fall 2020-Spring 2021
The work of a Modeling Director starts in the fall semester. Although the majority of the work with the committee occurs during the spring semester, the semester of the show, there is lots of behind the scenes work that goes on before we take on a committee. We have to create a syllabus and hold a model casting for The Fashion Show. The set up involves: requesting a room, going through the mass email process, getting the word out through social media, getting volunteers, and most importantly, holding model casting.

For the Iowa State Fashion Show, each member accepted through an application process is placed on a committee. The committee I was placed on was called the ‘Design Committee.’ The role I had as a committee member was so exciting for me. We started out with helping with Fit Night. Fit Night is an event where all the designers get to choose models to wear their clothing on the runway. We also had lots of jobs that lead up to that night and following. The most important and final job we had was dressing the models backstage on the day of the show. Unfortunately, because of the coronavirus, we did not have the opportunity to do our Fashion Show, but the work we put in for preparations taught me so many useful skills.
